Shift Officer

Full-Time Position

Salary:

Salary Range: $50,000-$58,000 (Depending on qualifications)

Benefits:

  • 100% paid Medical, Dental, Vision, LTD, and STD by the district for employees only
  • $3,000 yearly contribution to District sponsored HRA VEBA
  • 120hrs of Vacation per year
  • 48 hours of Sick Time per year

Brief Description:

Evans Valley Fire District #6 is a small combination fire district located fifteen minutes north of Rogue River in Southern Oregon. Our primary purpose is to protect the lives and property of our citizens. We accomplish this mission by delivering emergency medical services, fire suppression operations, and public education.

We seek talented, experienced, proven fire service professionals to join our team as the fire district's next Shift Officer.

Required Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Possess a high school diploma or GED (General Educational Development certificate)
  • Possess a minimum of two years of experience in all phases of firefighting, suppression, rescue, and EMS
  • Hold an Oregon certification to the level of EMT or higher
  • National Incident Management System certificates for IS-100, IS-200, and IS-700
  • Possess certification as:
    • NFPA Firefighter I
    • NFPA Firefighter 2
    • NWCG Wildland FFT2
    • NFPA Apparatus Equipped with Fire Pump
  • Be in good health, free from any medical or physical conditions that would prevent performing essential job  functions
  • Annually pass the Fire District's physical agility test (PAT)
  • Pass a background investigation and drug test before hiring
  • Possess a valid Oregon Driver's License before employment
  • Possess current American Heart Association CPR/BLS certification or equivalent
  • Possess the skills and background necessary to implement the Incident Command System (ICS) competently, make good decisions in stressful environments, and effectively manage personnel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a company officer or higher rank
  • National Incident Management System certificates for IS-300 and IS-400
  • Associate degree in Fire Science or a related field
  • Possess certification as:
    • NFPA Fire Officer I
    • NFPA Fire Officer II
    • NFPA Instructor I
    • NFPA Fire Instructor II

  • In your cover letter, be sure to highlight how your training and experience meet or exceed the minimum job qualifications.

3.       Submit Your Application Package:

  • Include the following documents

                            III. Resume

                            IV. DD214 if applicable

  • All required documents must be submitted via the Evans Valley Fire District #6 website by 5:00 PM on November 15, 2024.

4.       Confirmation of Submission:

  •  Applications will be reviewed as they are received, and candidates will receive an email confirming the receipt of their application.

5.       Confidentiality and Reference Checks:

  • All application information will remain confidential.
  • References will only be contacted if you are selected as a finalist

6.       Deadline Flexibility:

  • The Fire District reserves the right to adjust the application deadline if necessary.

Assessment Process:

Candidates may be required to complete an assessment process, including a physical agility test (PAT), skills assessment, incident management assessment, panel interviews, written assessments, and/or project-based presentation.

The anticipated assessment process will be on December 6th or 7th, 2024.
