Become a Student Firefighter
Take the first step toward a brighter future while making a difference in your community.
We know college isn’t cheap, so we’ve created an opportunity to help you offset those costs while gaining valuable real-world experience. At Evans Valley Fire District #6, we budget for six college students every two years who want to combine their education with service to the community.
What’s in it for You?
As a student firefighter, you’ll:
- Earn College Support: We’ll help with your tuition and book expenses.
- Build Life-Saving Skills: Receive professional training in firefighting, CPR, and emergency vehicle operations.
- Gain Hands-On Experience: Be part of a team responding to real emergencies.
- Enhance Your Resume: Stand out with practical, impactful service experience.
What We Ask in Return
In exchange for our investment in your future, we ask you to:
- Commit to staffing the station for five 48-hour shifts per month.
- Participate in all required training sessions and response duties.
- Bring a positive attitude and a willingness to serve your community.
Why Join Evans Valley Fire District #6?
We are more than a fire district—we are a family dedicated to protecting and serving Wimer. Through our Student Staffing Program, you’ll not only reduce your college expenses but also make a meaningful impact. Our program has been recognized with the Outstanding Program Award by the Special Districts Association of Oregon, and we continue to build on its success.
