Nancy Joeckel grew up in the scenic Lakeland region of northern New Jersey, an outdoor paradise for a curious and adventurous child. Her passion for community service began in high school and has since blossomed into a lifelong commitment. Over the years, Nancy has held leadership roles in numerous civic groups and charities.

For two decades, she served as the CFO of Borzoi Rescue – Northern California, where she oversaw the rescue, rehabilitation, and placement of over 400 dogs. Her dedication to wildlife extended to her 12 years as a docent naturalist at Año Nuevo State Park, the breeding ground for the remarkable northern elephant seals.

Nancy’s love of wildlands and wildlife inspired her move to Evans Valley in 2010, where she quickly became an active member of the community. She joined the Auxiliary soon after and has since served in various capacities, including as President. Nancy also lends her expertise as a member of the EVFD #6 budget committee, contributing to the district’s financial stewardship.

Professionally, Nancy is the founder of The RIO Method, established in 1978, and continues to maintain a private practice. She generously dedicates her pro bono time to supporting first responders and aiding animal shelters and humane societies with injured wildlife.

When she’s not volunteering or working, Nancy enjoys gardening and finds relaxation through knitting for Project Linus, providing comfort to children in need.
